SFU JDC WEST is hosting an SFU-wide case competition with all proceeds going to our charity partner, Ronald McDonald House!




About this Event:

Case Steady is a case competition geared towards students that want to learn more about case competitions and the training that SFU JDC West has to offer. With two training workshops run by experienced case competitors and a week-long deliberation, teams are given the tools to create great submissions to impress the judges and better prepare them for any future case competitions!


Key Dates & Times:

  • Training Workshop #1/Division Draw: Saturday, November 7, 10:00am-1:00pm
  • Training Workshop #2: Sunday, November 8, 12:00pm-3:00pm
  • Case Release: Friday, November 6, 6:00pm
  • Preliminary Video Submission Deadline: Friday, November 13, 6:00pm
  • Finalists Announced: Saturday, November 14, 12:00pm
  • Finals: Sunday, November 15, 10:00am-2:00pm


Competition Guidelines:

We will be releasing guidelines and the scorecard closer to the competition.

  • The registration fee is $5 per competitor – all proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House
  • Students may sign up as teams of 3-4 or as individuals (note: individual sign-ups will be slotted onto available teams)
  • Open to all SFU students
  • No prior case experience required
  • Students that do not progress to finals are heavily encouraged to attend finals as a learning experience
  • Finals and workshops will take place over Zoom
  • The division draw will be randomized
  • The top team from each division will advance to finals
  • This event is not open for SFU JDC West 2021 competitors


Submission Guidelines:

  • Preliminary videos will be submitted by a link to an unlisted YouTube video alongside the slide deck
  • Late submissions will be penalized or not accepted
  • Decks may not be altered between preliminaries and finals
  • Preliminary video submissions will be 15:00 minutes max
  • Each teammate must present once
